The Broad Front could denounce Moreira in court for the delivery of houses

He Broad Front (FA) evaluates bringing to justice or promoting an investigative commission in the Parliament for the actions of the former Minister of Housing and current Senator for Open Town Hall (CA), Irene Moreira, which he considers illegitimate.

The opposition party is waiting for a response to a request for information made to the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MVOT) about the discretionary delivery of houses to CA militants by Moreira before deciding on one of the two options.

In this regard, the Frente Amplista senator Sebastian Sabini He pointed out at a press conference that more and more cases are known in which Moreira, wife of the leader of Cabildo Abierto, Guido Manini Riosacted to benefit militants of his political force.

“There was a modus operandi by which the minister benefited members of the Cabildo Abierto,” he said and explained that there are 15 cases. The last of them is about a person who had a direct designation in the Ministry of Defense, despite the fact that there was a previous legal report that said that it was not possible to access the request.

The current Minister of Housing, Raul Lozano, committed to the Broad Front, during his presentation in Parliament, to deliver the list of those 14 direct awards. “They are illegal, there is no doubt that they are illegal. They are so illegal that the president himself understood that the minister could not continue in her position”, Sabini considered.

President Luis Lacalle Pou forced the resignation of Irene Moreira at the beginning of May, when the first of these cases of delivery of houses to Cabildo Abierto militants became known, generating the worst of the crises within the coalition with the threat of the party leaving it .

The lobbying legislators support the actions of Moreira, meanwhile, the Board of Transparency and Public Ethics (Jutep) began to study the case ex officio.
