The Institute for the Economy and Peace prepares an annual index of which are the best places to live. The country leads the position since 2008.
A new edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI)a ranking produced by the Institute of Economy and Peace (IEP) that classifies 163 independent states and territories according to their level of tranquility. In the 17th edition, Iceland returned to occupy the first placeas it has been doing since the first publication, in 2008.

The report is based on data on trends in peace, the value economy of each country, and how to develop peaceful societies. For “measure peace” uses three domains: the level of social security and protection; the extent of ongoing domestic and international conflict; and the degree of militarization.

This year’s results revealed that the average level of world peace was deteriorated by 0.42%which has a lot to do with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine which was unleashed in February 2022. However, this is a trend that has been occurring in the last 15 years, with 84 countries improving and 79 deteriorating in 2022.

The most insecure in the ranking
Afghanistan is he least peaceful country in the world for the eighth consecutive year, followed by Yemen, Syria, Sudan from the south and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Europe continues to be most peaceful region in the world, since seven of the ten most peaceful countries belong to its territory. On the other hand, the Middle East and North Africa continue to be the less peaceful regions of the worldand are home to four of the ten least peaceful countries.
In what position was Argentina?
Within the ranking, Argentina was ranked number 54 one of the most peaceful countries to live. They are ahead of Indonesia and Senegal, and ahead of Madagascar and Namibia.
For his part, Uruguay occupies the 50th place, and Chili the 58.
