“We want to combine mountain biking with enjoying nature and a shared experience,” says organizer Hans-Peter Kreidl, who is organizing the eRush, in which OÖN is a media partner, for the second time in Upper Austria.
This time the destination was the Mühlviertel, the Danube region and the Bohemian Forest. Two varied tours were on the program – on the trail of the granite beer circuit. “The round is ideal for the eRush, it is well signposted and a moderately difficult tour,” says Kreidl.
Climbs and rapid descents
The first day led the around 40 participants over the weekend together over 85 kilometers, starting in Kirchberg and finishing in Ulrichsberg on the first day. The Mühlviertel presented itself as surprisingly hilly to cyclists who didn’t know it. “There were tough climbs and rapid descents,” said participant Julia – a total of 2700 meters in altitude. You start to sweat despite the e-bike. With the eRush, however, the focus is not on the best time, but on the shared experience. “Of course, socializing in the evening is part of it,” says organizer Kreidl.
98 kilometers, 1830 meters in altitude
The second day led past the Schwarzenberg Floating Canal to the Czech Republic – and back to Austria. In the end, it was back to Exlau on the Danube via Rohrbach-Berg: a total of 98 kilometers and 1,830 meters in altitude. The weather also played along, the rain took its time, and all participants arrived together at the finish in Kirchberg ob der Donau.
“It was a great experience,” said Julia and organizer Hans-Peter Kreidl in unison. Next year there should be the next eRush in Upper Austria.
