The Pope works on a “mechanism” to return children to Ukraine
The peace envoy Pope Francisco for Ukrainethe cardinal Matteo Zuppiassured Tuesday that he is working on a “mechanism” what could ensure the return of children that according kyivThey were kidnapped by Russia.
“We will see how we can start the mechanism for children (and) help, as we have said on the humanitarian front, in particular children who must be able to return to UkraineZuppi said at a book launch in Rome. He added that he had personally dealt with the issue with the holy Father.
The Italian cardinal visited Moscow last week, and was previously in the Ukrainian capital. He Vatican described his efforts as “aimed at identifying humanitarian initiatives that could open paths towards peace”. And, speaking to Italian public broadcaster RAI on Sunday, Zuppi clarified that he was not working on a “peace plan” not in one “mediation” between kyiv and Moscowbut focused on “humanitarian aspects”.
