It was 1:20 a.m. when the fire was reported to a recycling company in Hörsching via an emergency call on Thursday. The rubbish storage in the outdoor area was already in full fire when the first fire brigade arrived. A little later, the operations manager of the volunteer fire brigade Hörsching raised to alert level 2.
In addition to other fire brigades from the area, the state warning center also alerted the Axberg volunteer fire brigade to support the operations center and the drone stationed there.
A warehouse was damaged by the flames, and the emergency services were able to prevent it from spreading to other objects, including a company petrol station.
Due to the type and amount of waste stored, fire investigators assume a defective battery or self-ignition after the assessment on Thursday morning. Third-party debt can be ruled out according to the current status of the investigation, according to the State Police Directorate.
