As for the South American country, Uruguay obtained the phytosanitary authorization and there are already steps to advance the possibility of a zero Rate Tariff, while in the case of the Mexican territory, the measure is part of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), so it has no tariff incidence, two markets that are key at a time of falling exports.
Regarding sales to Ecuador, he admitted that “it is not a traditional market”, but he valued that “there are very good chances that this year we can take advantage of this window to improve our export equation”. For this reason, he anticipated the negotiations for the zero tariff, which today is located, according to the norms of the Latin American Integration Association (Aladi), in it 3. 4%.
The requirements to sell to the South American country include a certificate stating that a sanitary treatment has been carried out prior to shipment, that the shipment is free of soil or other foreign material and that it is made with new, first-use packaging, the MGAP specified. .

Regarding rapeseed, whose export will take place within the framework of an FTA, Mattos assessed that “it is a great market for this product”, which is basically marketed to the European Union and Chile. “This is very good news for farmers who are currently developing their crops and that by the end of the harvest, between November and December, a new market will already be open,” said the chief.
Regarding the phytosanitary requirements established for rapeseed grain destined for Mexico, they include a certificate with an additional declaration of having fulfilled the inspection, cleaning and disinfection conditions in the holds of ships or containers, depending on the shipment.
Mattos admitted that there are negotiations in other markets
Following the announcements, Mattos did not rule out signing new export protocols with China and the countries of Central America and the Caribbean, while informing that the shipment of minced meat to South Korea, after its recent authorization.
The minister also stressed that “it is possible to increase sales to Mexico and that progress is being made to enable markets in the Caribbean and Central America.” Although today they are supplied with food from USA, considered that “at this time the prices are high.”
At the same time, it lowered the expectation regarding China, after the visit of two official delegations that advanced in the protocols for poultry, horse meat, mondongo, tongue and head meat.
