The people of Traun see traffic as one of the biggest challenges in Traun and want a fundamental change in the city bus system. That was the result of the large citizen survey in autumn. According to the city of Traun, it has been working for more than a year to fulfill this wish. “The city bus will become more attractive, more efficient and more environmentally friendly. In addition, we are now also including all national public transport in order to be able to offer long-term, sustainable solutions,” say City Councilor Eva May (SP) and Mayor Karl-Heinz Koll (VP ).
Environmentally friendly, quiet e-buses
Specifically, there should be more compact, smaller buses that remain barrier-free and run with environmentally friendly, quiet electric drives. Furthermore, a coordination of the timetables and the timing with the supra-regional lines of the Upper Austrian transport association, Linz AG and the trains of the ÖBB are planned. The circulation times of the individual routes can also be maintained with the extensions and the additional stops. “We are convinced that we have found the best solution for the people of Traun with this new concept,” says Koll. The new concept will be implemented in December 2025.
