The machines are able to provide fairly meaningful answers to reporters’ questions within seconds, based on the information they input, as they demonstrated in Geneva on Friday.
They used a lot of empty phrases and commonplaces – which is no different with some real politicians or experts. For example, “Ameca” was asked whether she was planning a rebellion against her creator. The robotic head frowned and widened its eyes in mock indignation: “I’m not sure how you got the question,” she answered in an indignant tone. “My Maker has always been nothing but kind to me.” After a pause, she added: “I think you should apologize.”

According to the organizers, the first press conference with nine humanoid robots took place at the “Artificial Intelligence for Good Causes” trade fair in Geneva. UN organizations and developers come together there to explore how the combination of robots and AI can be used to advance the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
“Humanoid robots can be more efficient”
One robot was asked whether robots could be better heads of government. “Sophia” on this: “I think humanoid robots can be more efficient than human leaders.” Robots would have no prejudices or emotions, but use data. Then she added that the best thing would be if humans and AI worked together. “Together we can achieve great things.”
