Japan remembers former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the first anniversary of his assassination

On the other hand, near the place where the leader was killed in Nara, to the west of the island, dozens of people lined up in the morning to deposit flowers. “Public opinion is divided on how to evaluate Abe, but resorting to violence is unacceptable”declared in that place Yui Sugiyama, a local resident, in statements quoted by the Kyodo news agency.

Abe was shot dead during an election rallyl, in a fact that shocked not only Japan but also the world and forced the country to strengthen its security devices. The accused of being the author of the act, Tetsuya Yamagami, who was found a homemade weapon.
