160 Salzburg conscripts from Salzburg and St. Johann im Pongau were recently sworn in in Unterach. The highlight of the celebration was two overflights by a flight of Eurofighters, during which one of the pilots congratulated the recruits from the cockpit.
In his speech, Unterach Mayor Georg Baumann (VP) emphasized the importance of security and protection today and thanked the army. The military commander of Salzburg, Brigadier Peter Schinnerl, emphasized the good cooperation regardless of national borders.
After the speeches, the recruits vowed to serve the Republic of Austria and the Austrian people with all their might. After the Eurofighter overflights and a volley of honor from the “D’Adlerstoana” traditional costume and rifle club, the “Great Austrian Tattoo” marked the end of the swearing-in ceremony. The Salzburg military band under the direction of military bandmaster Johann Schernthanner performed the impressive work.
