The state honors the commitment of active athletes and officials with the State Sports Medal. Of the 137 honorees, six come from the Vöcklabruck district. “The large number of honorees underlines the enormous commitment and at the same time the sporting diversity in our state,” emphasized Sports State Councilor Markus Achleitner, who presented the awards with the chairwoman of the state sports organization, President Brigitte Casny.
Walter Ameshofer from Schlatt, who has been involved in cycling since 1995, received the gold medal of honor. He is chairman of the Lambach cycling club and since 2008 vice president of the state cycling association. Johannes Kronberger from Desselbrunn was also awarded gold. From 1979 to 1999 he was section head of the ATSV Rüstorf and has been chairman since then. In addition, Kronberger has been a public relations officer for the Upper Austrian Football Association since 2011. Karin Peer from Vöcklabruck also received the gold medal of honor. Since 1978 she has been a gymnast for Askö ATSV Timelkam. She has been head of the gymnastics section since 2013, and since 1994 Peer has been involved as a district referee for gymnastics at the Askö Salzkammergut.
Manfred Eisenknapp from Desselbrunn, who celebrates many successes for the Union disabled sports club Attnang/Vöcklabruck, received the silver medal of honor. As a table tennis player he was Austrian champion six times and as a tennis player even 14 times. At the BSV he is the head of the tennis and table tennis section. Franz Nini from Gampern received the silver medal of honor. He started with karate in 1976 and founded the Sportunion Karate Gampern in 2001, which he still heads as chairman and trainer. Finally, the medal of honor in silver went to Andreas Thalhammer from Regau, who has been an active official of the Raiffeisen Regau sports union for more than 20 years.
