From July to September 2022, around 37 percent of flights were delayed (2019: 27 percent). The Airhelp company collected this data and presented it yesterday, Tuesday.
According to Airhelp, 99 million passengers across Europe were affected by delays. Almost half of all flights (47 percent) were delayed in Serbia, but also in Greece (45) and Bulgaria (44) many aircraft did not take off as planned. The rate was 20 percent in Finland and Lithuania and 22 percent in Norway. Figures from Austria were not available.
According to Airhelp, the general increase in the quota in Europe is “alarming”, also because “the airports and airlines still have to process fewer people than three years ago”. The company expects even more delays this year given the shortage of skilled workers, strikes and unpredictable extreme weather.
