Diseases of the cardiovascular system are among the most common causes of death. People with high blood pressure, diabetes or high blood fat levels are at increased risk. Biomarkers in the blood can provide additional information for risk assessment, but evaluation often involves expensive laboratory analysis. A device is being developed at Meduni Graz that will enable evaluation in general practitioner practice, the university announced. This would save the patient a lot of travel and time.
