One injured person, two heavily damaged vehicles, hours of clean-up work: That is the result of a traffic accident in the morning hours of Wednesday on the B309 near Kronstorf. A 31-year-old, who was driving his van towards Steyr at around 7:30 a.m., should have dozed off briefly at the wheel, the police said on Wednesday afternoon. He lost control of his pickup truck and crossed the middle of the lane.
An oncoming truck driver from Bosnia swerved to the left to avoid a head-on collision. There was a side collision between the two vehicles, which was so severe that the pickup truck was thrown into the ditch, where it lay on its side, badly damaged. The articulated lorry came to a standstill across the carriageway of the B309.

While the truck driver survived the accident unscathed, the 31-year-old sustained such serious injuries that he had to be taken to the UKH in Linz with the C10 rescue helicopter. The Hargelsberg and Kronstorf fire brigades are moving in for the clean-up work. Their mission was only over in the early afternoon.
