The Senate put a stop to an outburst totally out of place

Caroline Cosse finally obtained the file of his case for a political trial carried out by councilors of his commune, the mayor regretted that there are some politicians who are dedicated to this type of games and assured that “the Senate put an end to an outburst totally out of place.”

The political strength of the mayor of Montevideohe Broad Front (FA), gave a press conference this Tuesday after the Senate had discussed hours before the fate of the political cause that had Cosse as the protagonist. Parliament finally decided by majority not to move forward with the dismissal of the mayor, saving the vote against the nationalist senator, Jorge Gandini.

“A recognition of Chamber of Senators that put a stop to a totally inappropriate outburst,” said Cosse, who thanked his fellow senators for their political strength. Also, he did not miss an opportunity to thank the vice president of the republic, Beatriz Argimon, for having received her defenses personally, as well as the people who went to the bars of Parliament to support her and, especially, her family.

On the other hand, he remarked that the people he met on the streets did not remember the impeachment against him. “Sometimes there are politicians who get distracted or who perform distractive maneuvers but people are not distracted”, remarked the president. On the other hand, she said that the commune took care of “carrying out works, intervening in 25 neighborhoods with the ABC plan, bringing light to 36 settlements”, without being distracted.

An opposition that responds

Before Cosse’s remarks, the president of the opposition, Fernando Pereira, assured that the councilors of the commune “prosecuted our mayor of Montevideo, elected by secret and direct vote of the people of Montevideo, with the intent to remove herand this cannot simply pass as an anecdote”.

Pereira categorized the Cosse trial as a great political irresponsibility that was even managed by national authorities. “Luckily today in the Senate rationality prevailed and there was no room for the impeachment that was established and that sought to harm Cosse, who did not commit any fault,” remarked the president of the FA.

“A group of councilors cannot assume the possibility of impeaching an elected mayor, they cannot do it because they put democracy into a quake. Imagine that a party that has a third begins to prosecute the elected mayors. It would not be reasonable,” he added.

Finally, he assured that the Broad Front will respond to the attacks that are being carried out, which, coincidentally, are against members of the party who have chances of becoming presidential candidates for next year’s elections. “They must consider that every attack on a FA candidate is an attack on the FA, and the FA will defend itself. They are not going to push the FA, it is not with threats, it is not with disqualifications, it is not with violent tweets, it is not deceiving society, ”he assured.
