To continue with the plan for the decarbonization of the economy and sustainable mobility, the IM made a call for prices in October 2022 for the award of 20 permits for electric taxis. from the 17 million pesos collected is that the new subsidy was implemented that will finance the replacement of 85 taxis with engines that use fossil fuel for 100% new electric taxis.

This financial tool consists of granting 200,000 pesos for each vehicle that is replaced under these conditions. Furthermore, within 85 seats, 30 will be reserved for taxi cooperatives.
The initiative is part of the transformation of the energy matrix in transport carried out by the commune, where the taxi sector is playing a role of enormous importance, with 120 electric vehicles already available and in circulation for the capital. As of today there will be 140 units and it is expected to exceed the 200 about the end of this year or the beginning of next.
Tax costs and benefits
The energy costs of an electric taxi are five times less than those of gasoline and three times less than those of diesel, details the IM in this regard.
Currently, this transport service in its sustainable modality has important tax benefits: total exoneration of the patent (granted by the IIM); exemption from imesi (granted by the national government); during the first year the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) grants an amount of money to the permit holder for the vehicle’s energy efficiency certification (based on the declaration of the amount of emissions saved); and a reduced rate for recharging (less than that charged to an electric vehicle that does not provide a taximeter service).
