The baked goods specialist Guschlbauer from Waizenkirchen, which supplies many retail chains with its products, will pay around 100 employees a 15 percent wage increase from July. With this unusual step, the professional baker wants to bind existing staff to the company and attract new employees. “People already have to cope with the higher cost of living. We want to support our team as quickly as possible,” says company boss Robert Guschlbauer. In addition, his industry is suffering from the image of low wages. “We want to actively counteract that.”
A prerequisite for this extraordinary campaign is, of course, a correspondingly good economic development of the company. In the first half of 2023, the pre-corona level of 2019 was reached again. With annual sales of EUR 30 million, the company landed a major order in Germany this year: Nine million Franzbrötchen, a traditional Hamburg pastry with cinnamon and sugar, will be produced for German retailers.
