After almost a month of the tragedy of the titan in which five crew members died aboard the submarine, investigations continue to find out what went wrong. Among the advances, a animated video illustrating the moment in which the submersible of the Ocean Gate imploded.
aitellya channel specializing in 4K and 3D engineering animations, posted on Youtube a video that has more than 9.3 million views. In it, you can see what happened -for them- in the deep waters of the North Atlantic.

The audiovisual content was created by three people, who used a open source software called Blender. With this, they recreated the submersible based on the design and measurements that are published on the OceanGate website and on Google.
Titan submarine implosion
The video begins by explaining what an implosion is: “It is a process of destruction by collapsing inward onto the object itself.” And difference: “The explosion expands; the implosion contracts.”
As they explain, the tragedy occurred due to high hydrostatic pressure, which occurred in a fraction of a “millisecond”. The material also indicates that, at the height where the remains of the Titanic are, there are approximately 5,600 pounds per square inch of pressure400 times greater than what humans experience on the surface.
The main reason the catastrophe occurred, according to AiTelly, was the material used to build the submersible, carbon fiber. “Existing technology is based on steel, titanium and aluminium. These materials are what prevented other submarines from being crushed. But the Titan had an experimental design, ”says the video.
Tragedy of the submersible that traveled towards the Titanic
The five people on board the Titan, who had paid 250,000 euros each to participate in the expedition to explore the remains of the Titanic, had exactly “between 48 and 70 seconds to realize what was happening”, that is, that they were about to die, explained the expert quoted by the digital portal Nius.
The Titan It collapsed “in free fall” for about 1,700 meters and “without any control”from a depth of about 1,000 meters to 1,500, when it then “burst like a balloon” by the catastrophic implosion, which caused the “instant death” of the occupants.
