The Municipality of Montevideo (IM) presented its budget proposal for 2024 and 2025 to the Departmental Board from the capital of Uruguay, which will begin to be dealt with on July 24. In the message from the leadership headed by Caroline Cosse, an increase in spending of around 700 million pesos is expected.
The National Accountability It also has its correlate at the departmental level, where the Intendencies seek the approval by the mayors of the budget adjustments for the last period of the current administrations, in force. until 2025.
In this sense, the IM will begin to debate in 10 days the budget with which the Intendancy will have to culminate its government under the command of the leader of the broad front and eventual pre-candidate for the presidency for the leftist coalition.
The figures of the Administration
The official management numbers indicate that the departmental government had a slight surplus of 82 million pesos in 2022, along with a better fiscal result than the previous two years. One of the central axes of the budgetary message is the reduction of gender inequality by promoting “the economic autonomy of women”, according to the explanatory statement. In this sense, every three months, the companies that adhere to this contracting policy may collect the 10% monthly of nominal salary of the new employees. Among other provisions, the capital’s Accountability provides for bonuses in certain cases the payment for the driver’s license issuance fee professionals and amateurs for women from vulnerable socioeconomic contexts.
For the regular notebook, the exoneration will be 100% if the nominal income of the applicant is less than 7.5 units of Benefits and Contributions Base (BPC) —about 42,450 pesos, according to the values of July— or when “she is a beneficiary of one of the IM programs for social inclusion and promotion of economic autonomy.”
In the case of the professional license, the same exoneration will be maintained, including the cost of the medical examination carried out by the IM. Although it will also be granted 50% bonus —until December 31, 2025— to women who have a monthly income of more than 7.5 BPC.
The bonus will be granted, without requirements, to trans people who modify their data in accordance with Law 19,684.
