A Viennese daily newspaper had at least interpreted a passage of the updated action plan against extremism, which had been decided in Upper Austria this week, in a report in this way.
It states that “it is intended that no premises in the country be made available to the Identitarian Movement or associations that support it or are close to it for events or other activities”. However, this point in the action plan does not provide for a general exclusion of fraternities, as the office of Governor Thomas Stelzer (VP) says: “This will be checked on a case-by-case basis. A general exclusion based on the statements is not planned.” The basis for the decision as to whether the state’s premises are made available is an assessment of the respective organizer by the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism. For this purpose, an up-to-date, individual assessment is obtained from the authority on a case-by-case basis. The Presidium Directorate in the country will follow this assessment.
