Two Czech vacationers aged 25 and 29 planned to climb the Drachenwand via ferrata on Friday. The two started at around 9 a.m. in St. Lorenz and climbed the via ferrata at around 9:30 a.m. Shortly before the so-called “Götterquergang” the 25-year-old complained of physical discomfort and also briefly lost consciousness. The 29-year-old attendant tended to the dehydrated woman and a climber who followed placed an emergency call. The 25-year-old was rescued by the emergency helicopter “Martin 3” using a rope and flown to the hospital. For the woman who wore sneakers on the via ferrata, it was the first via ferrata.
