Milk exports increased by 7% year-on-year in the first semester

The milk exports increased a 7% in the first half of the year if compared to the same period of 2022, according to data from the National Milk Institute (Inale), despite the effect that the Conaprole conflict between the union and the employers had in that period.

The situation occurred in a scenario in which there was a drop in volumes of the dairy products that the country exported, in a period marked by the conflict in Conaprole, although the income measured in dollars was boosted by an improvement in international prices.

According to the Inale report, the sector’s exports were $445.1 million so far this year, which is equivalent to 7% more than during the period between January and June 2022. In turn, he specified that the main destinations during the last 12 months were Brazil (44%), Algeria (15%) and China (6%).

What were the products that generated the most revenue?

When analyzed by product, powdered milk was once again the star of the sector, generating income for $47.5 million, who in the first semester reached 294.2 million dollars, a year-on-year growth of 25% In fact, 12,179 tons were exported, 31% more than the previous year.

Meanwhile, the skimmed milk powder had sales abroad of 5 million dollars, a decrease of 57% compared to the 222.1 million dollars a year ago. In terms of volumes, it registered placements for 1,287 tons in June and has 5,992 tons in the year, also falling in the order of 57%.

In turn, exports of cheeses they were for 8.4 million dollars in June and 59.4 million dollars so far this year, with a growth of 14%, while there was a decrease in volumes of 3%, with 1,854 tons in June and 11,481 in the semester. The shortenings They also reported a decrease of 41%, selling 3.3 million dollars in June and 27 million dollars in the year, representing 648 tons and 5,057, respectively, which is equivalent to a decrease of 42%.
