The Office of Planning and Budget (OPP) is financing an infrastructure plan for 300 million pesos (almost 8 million dollars) for dozens of public works projects in the department of Colonia.
Of a total of 60 projects49 will be executed in municipalities, another 9 will have the support of the Inland Development Fundand the remaining 2 correspond to improvement works on rural roads in the department.
The most notable works plan of the plan in execution, is included the asphalting of route No. 83the reconditioning of Batlle y Ordoñez avenue in the city of New Helvetiathe construction of a new plaza in the town of Miguelete and improvements in a flood zone in the municipality of new palmyra.
Work on Route 83 will benefit dairy farmers
The jobs on Route No. 83 are the most expensive, and involve a contribution from the OPP of about 86 million pesosseeking to improve the accessibility conditions of the route and allow dairy farmers in the circular area to more easily.
The route, in the jurisdiction of the quartermaster of cologneis one of the main interconnection corridors in the southwest area of the department.
On the other hand, the reconditioning of the avenue in Nueva Helvecia supposes a budgetary effort of about 40 million pesosbeing this a strategic work as it is the access road to the city, and the union between routes No. 1 and No. 2.
The general coordinator of the Decentralization and Cohesion Area of the OPP, Mary of Limaexplained that through the new works “better accessibility is also being generated for those people who circulate from Montevideo to these departments.
In turn, they were assigned 20 million pesos for the construction of the new square in Miguelete, which up to now did not have a similar family space, and others 8 million of pesos to a channeling work to prevent flooding in Nueva Palmira, from more than 1,000 kilometers of pipes.
The other 146 million pesos will be distributed among the other jobs. The Mayor of Cologne, Carlos Moreirapositively valued the development of the works in the department, noting that it aims to “improve the quality of life of the residents.”
