Eucalyptus placements continue to increase and pine placements grew after falling for four consecutive months.
The Peach Free Zonewhere the Finnish pulp mill operates PSU 2boosted timber exports during the month of June, where Sales of eucalyptus logs grow at a record rate and registered a monthly increase of close to 12%.
In the second quarter of the year, the volume of eucalyptus log exports continued the upward trend of the first quarter and grew again. Only in June 1.85 million cubic meters were exportedrepresenting an increase of 9% compared to what was exported in May, and of 172% of what was exported in June 2022.
In addition to the Durazno Free Zone, the main destinations continue to be Asian countries such as China and India. However, at the volume level, during the first quarter of 2023 33% less was placed in destinations outside the free zone than for the same period last year.
Pine exports grew after falling for 4 consecutive months
On the other hand, exports of pine logs stopped falling after four consecutive monthsreaching a volume of 111,000 cubic meters for a total value of approximately $8.5 million.
Compared to May, the volume was almost quintupled and the billing increased 6 times. However, the month of June was an exception, since the semester was not good.
In this first semester, they exported 585,000 meters cubic meters of round pine wood, when some 950,000 cubic meters were placed in the first half of last year.
At the billing level, another gap occurred, since while in the first half of 2022 some 80 million dollars were billed, in the first six months of this year some 50 million dollars were reached.
