It was the expected lesson on Monday evening for the second team of SV Guntamatic Ried. The regional league played against the Spanish first division club RCD Mallorca in the Daxl Arena in Andorf. The Spaniards, who surprisingly finished ninth last season, let the ball and their opponents do as they please throughout the game.
Perfect combination football was presented to the spectators in Andorf. The end result: 9:0 for the team from Palma, the capital of the Balearic island of Mallorca. The Spaniard’s star striker Vedat Muriqi came on in the second half. The 29-year-old Kosovar was the outstanding player on the pitch from that point on. He scored two goals and was involved in almost every offensive action by the Spaniards. The Young Vikings used Özgür Özdemir, an old acquaintance, as a test player in the first half. An obligation should not be an issue. The 28-year-old made a total of 34 competitive appearances for SV Ried in the 2016/2017 Bundesliga relegation season. The 1.88 meter tall central defender was most recently under contract with the Turkish amateur club Bayrampasa (Istanbul).
For Mallorca, the game against the Young Vikings was the second test against an Innviertel team. The Spaniards were 1-0 down for a long time against strong Gurtner (goal: Fabian Wimmleitner), and in the closing stages Mallorca turned the game around to a 3-1 win. (tst)
