Christoph Gabauer from the CLR Sauwald Cofain 699 club put on a great performance at the 24-hour bike marathon in Grieskirchen. Gabauer, who started the race as an outsider, coped very well with the midsummer conditions. In fifth place, the athlete from the Sankt Roman club cycled into the night in fifth place. With minimal break times, Gabauer worked his way up to second place in the early hours of the morning. This placement finally brought Gabauer to the finish line after 24 hours. He completed the circuit from Grieskirchen via Pollham to Bad Schallerbach and back to Grieskirchen no fewer than 37 times.

All in all, Christoph Gabauer, who was actively supported by his club colleagues during the race, had an unbelievable 795 kilometers and more than 7200 meters in altitude in his legs after crossing the finish line. The average speed was around 33 km/h. “With this performance, Gabauer made himself the most successful individual starter in the history of this 24-hour race in the club’s history books,” says CLR Sauwald. The victory went to the top athlete Robert Müller.
