The Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, said that there is “a very different picture” after the improvement in the quality of OSE’s supply.
The water crisis already left behind his “beak”, as considered the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, highlighting the constant growth of reserves in the Paso Severino dam after the rains recorded days ago in Montevideo and surroundings.
When asked at a press conference about whether Uruguay had managed to get around the water emergency, that affected citizens and also companies, Delgado indicated: “I think the peak is.” In this way, he alluded to the significant improvement in the quality of the water supplied by SBI and the increase in reserves in Severine Pass and indicated: “We have a very different picture.”
In any case, the hierarch called “continue working as if this situation could continue without raining for a long time” and pointed out that the government “is responsible for doing so.”
In this sense, he focused on works already done, such as the one on the belastiqui, but also in the work that is carried out for connect the San José river with the Santa Lucía, among other decisions. “These works have to do with a scenario that may not be favorable, although we hope that reality changes and nature too,” said Delgado.
Constant improvements in the Paso Severino dam
It is worth noting that in the last hours not only the quality of the water has improved, but also the level of reserves of the Severino pass. “The dam is close to the 8 million cubic meters, closed and growing”, highlighted the Secretary of the Presidency about the progress in the midst of a water emergency, which in the last hours faced a new item that could put the supply at risk.
To this he added that “the Santa Lucía is coming with a significant flow of water downwards, it overflowed running waters and is damming the dam, thankfully it was done in Belastiquí”. In any case, he clarified that “the works that are underway will continue.”
On the other hand, Delgado referred to the long arrival of the desalination plant from the United States, postponed weeks ago because I didn’t get on the plane Hercules by 15 centimeters. “It is arriving these days on a ship,” she specified, although she clarified that “it is a limited plant and it is only useful for some areas.”
