The Rotary Club gives 51 children from the war zone in eastern Ukraine the opportunity to spend ten days in the Salzkammergut recovering from the events in their homeland. The Austrian organizers used their contacts to Ukrainian Rotarians. They took over the selection of the children, who are between the ages of 11 and 14 and who are also looked after by Ukrainian attendants.

The young guests are accommodated in the national sports and leisure center in Obertraun. In addition to sporting activities, excursions are also organised. Yesterday, for example, the children went on a boat trip on the Traunsee before taking the cable car up the Grünberg.

Since the beginning of the war, the Austrian Rotarians have been involved with various initiatives to alleviate the suffering in Ukraine as much as possible – also financially. In total, more than two million euros in support from the Austrian Rotary Clubs have already been made effective through various projects.

From the delivery of food and medical equipment to the provision of emergency power generators, however, direct help could also be provided. Ukrainians in Austria are also supported in many ways. Clothing and food donations for orphans, the organization of language courses and housing are just a few of the many initiatives.
