At least 12 people died in a road accidentincluding six women, and more than 15 were injured after the group in which they were traveling fell into an abyss in a remote north country road Peruthe authorities reported.
“Currently there are 12 deaths and more than fifteen injured. We are still here at the scene of the events working, providing all the support together with the police, health personnel and the prosecutor’s office,” he told RPP radio, Carlos Oyolamayor of the province of Fitzcarrald in the Andean region of Ancash.

How did the accident happen
The bus was heading from the district of Yauya to Lima, according to the AFP news agency.
“According to the testimony of residents, The vehicle veered off the road spinning violently”added the mayor.
The wounded were taken to the Huaraz regional hospitalwhile the reasons for the accident are a matter of investigation.

According to local specialists, accidents on Peruvian routes are frequent due to the speeding, the poor condition of the roads, the lack of signaling and the scant control of the authorities.
