At 8:22 p.m., firefighters and divers were alerted after fishermen had witnessed a boat accident in the Abwinden/Asten power plant area. A motorboat manned by two people had hit a concrete part of the power plant that was under water. The force of the impact injured the two people on board. So heavy that they were no longer able to steer the boat. It then drifted towards the shore.
Fishermen had observed the incident, sounded the alarm and thus quickly set the rescue chain in motion. Even before the alerted emergency services of the nine fire brigades Asten, Enns, Saxen, Blindendorf, Luftenberg an der Donau, St. Georgen an der Gusen, Perg, Steyregg and Taucher – it was not clear whether someone had fallen off the boat – at the scene of the accident arrived, the fishermen were able to secure the boat on the shore. The fire brigade treated the injured and then salvaged the boat with the help of a crane from the Enns fire brigade.
