The Minister of Industry assured that Ancap is going to lose more money with Portland

The minister of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), Omar Paganinipointed against the union measures of the Ancap Federation (fancap), and assured in a press conference that, in the portland business, Ancap “lost money for 20 years and will lose more money as its market share decreases”.

Paganini held that “There is no desire for dialogue” on the part of the Ancap unionwhich “He flatly rejects any association with private cement companies”something that from the portfolio they understand as “the only way out” for this loss-making business.

The decision of the Executive Branch to move forward with a privatization of the Portland business in the state company, triggered a series of strikes and union measures that, according to Paganini, “affect the entire development of the company”.

Among the problems highlighted by the minister is the maintenance shutdown of the La Teja refineryas well as effects on flights in the Carrasco International Airportwhich “were on the verge of having problems”, and “the office in the table that affects the fuel supply in general and alters the work of truckers,” he said.

“There are the two Portland plants with production difficulties because they have to bring in private parties to do maintenance work and the officials do not approve the work orders,” concluded the head of MIEM.
