A new survey by Ágora Consultores revealed that a 58% of the population of Canelones approves the management of the mayor, Yamandu Orsiwho continues to add political support as a presidential candidate for the broad front (FA) ahead of the 2024 elections.

According to information from the consultant, there are 17% of the Canaries who see the management of the departmental head as “regular”, 5% preferred not to answer, while at the other extreme there is 20% of the inhabitants of Canelones who disapprove of the current administration.

In the department with the second largest number of inhabitants in the country, 47.6% assured that the department is “advancing” hand in hand with the mayor34.9% perceive it as “stagnant”, 13.4% indicated that it is “going backwards”, while 4.2% chose not to answer.

The priority problem for the Canaries is insecurity at 18.6%followed by the repair of streets at 15.6%, unemployment at 7.6%, cleaning the city at 6.5%, and the lack of housing at 5.9%, among others.

Regarding the operation of the Municipality of Canelones, 11.4% believe that it is “very good”; 38.1% that it is “good”; 31.9% that it is “regular”; 11.1% that it is “bad”; 4.2% that it is “very bad”; and the remaining 3.3% did not answer the question. In this case, the global balance of positive evaluations for the Orsi administration was 34.2%.

The investigation was carried out in 15 towns in Canelones between June 18 and 28, 2023, and the survey was carried out from a sample of 417 people, with a foreseeable margin of error of up to 4.8%.
