Protests resume to demand the resignation of President Boluarte

Congress and the Executive Branch are in the crosshairs after months of demonstrations and 49 deaths at the hands of the police forces.

Peru resumed its demonstrations this Wednesday to request the resignation from his President, Dina Boluarte: six people were arrested and 11 resulted wounds in the “Taking of Lima”a protest which aims to advance the elections.

He Ministry of Health The Peruvian detailed the consequences of the protest through an official statement: “During the public demonstrations in the center of Lima, the following were reported: 11 attentions (medical), of which four were carried out in the same place by the health brigades and three were evacuated to the Dos de Mayo National Hospital and have already been discharged. Likewise, others four people were evacuated to the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital where they continue to be treated to rule out ulna and radius fractures, trauma, among others”.

The Ombudsmaninstead, reported eight injuredamong whom were Two policemen. he the Minister of the Interior, Vicente Romeroassured the station PTR that six people were arrestedone of them for throwing a Molotov cocktail at the police.

The official, in radio statements, defended the police personnel and minimized the attacks during the demonstrations: “We have a different Police, with high morale. Obviously, there are always some slip-ups, but they are the product of the very interaction of the development of these movements that are made on the street.”

Peru: the opposition seeks the resignation of Boluarte

Thousands of Peruvians took to the central streets of Lima yesterday to demand the end of the government of the president of Peru, Dina Boluarteand Congress, which they loudly described as “murderer” and “seller of the country”, respectively.

“Olé, ole, olá, olá, Killer dina, we’re gonna get you out”, shouted the protesters at the restart of the mobilizations that between December and March they left 49 civilians dead due to the response of the Police and the Military Forces and that they had gone into hiatus in the midst of repression and natural disasters.

The opposition, in this context, seeks to reactivate the mobilizations based on citizen discontent. The reflection of the discontent is seen in all the polls: more than 80% reject the Governmentmore than 90% repudiate Congress and around 90% demand early elections.
