The Gutau-based photographer Roman Gutenthaler won twice a medal in the selection of the best photographs by the state guild of professional photographers. There was silver for the photo “We’re taking off”, in which Gutenthaler staged six pilots in front of an airplane. The man from the Mühlviertel won gold in the “Reportage/Photojournalism” category with “Not today” – a horse that refuses to jump over an obstacle. This photo was subsequently nominated for the Federal Photographer’s Prize.
A total of 900 photographs in eight categories were submitted for this year’s competition. The fact that Roman Gutenthaler secured two podium places in this top-class environment made him smile: “It’s funny that I always got a double in my biggest competition successes.” In 2016, for example, the man from the Mühlviertel won gold and silver in the world’s largest photo competition, the Trierenberg Circuit. He managed the same feat three years later at the state prize for professional photographers and now also at the creative performance comparison of photographers in Upper Austria.
