MEXICO CITY, Jul 22 (Reuters) – Eleven people died in a fire at a bar in the northern Mexican border city of San Luis Colorado, allegedly caused by a patron thrown out of the bar who set it on fire with a Molotov cocktail, Sonora state authorities said on Saturday.

Sonora prosecutors said that based on preliminary findings, the suspect was a young man who was intoxicated at the time of the attack, which occurred early Saturday morning. The man had been kicked out of the bar for disrespecting the women present there.

He then returned and threw some kind of Molotov cocktail at the bar’s doors, according to a statement from prosecutors in the state that has a long border with Arizona.

Four of the 11 dead were women and four more people were being treated at hospital for their injuries, the statement added. Authorities are working to capture the suspect, she added.
