At around 3:00 p.m. the first floods occurred in the Lower Drau Valley and the surrounding valley. The thunderstorm cells moved across the Ossiacher See area in the direction of Wörthersee and caused flooding of basements, fallen trees and no longer passable underpasses in Klagenfurt and the surrounding area with heavy hail and heavy rainfall, as the city communication of Klagenfurt announced. For example, the underpass in Rosentaler Strasse had to be closed due to flooding.
Fire brigades in continuous operation
In Klagenfurt, the professional fire brigade and the ten volunteer fire brigades were in continuous operation from 5 p.m. after a storm had blown up. Around 8 p.m., 150 calls had already been made and there were still 50 to come, as deputy fire director Wolfgang Germ from the Klagenfurt professional fire brigade stated.

According to the LAWZ, the weather from Klagenfurt shifted further to the northern area of the Völkermarkt district. In the Villach Land district, there was an unsafe slope situation between Obertweng and Feld am See. The Obertwenger community road may remain closed for one to two days, but access to the houses remained possible via Feld am See.
