PFAFFING. An e-bike course was recently held for residents of “invitation”the Caritas offer for people with mental disabilities. “Mobility plays a major role here in the rural region because it enables people to take part in social life outside”says “invitation”-Employee Alexandra Steiner, who organized the course.
The residents of “invitation” mainly cycle to Vöcklamarkt, where they do their shopping, visit the coffee house and an inn. “Road safety is of course important to us”, according to Steiner. The program for the e-bike course included getting on and off the bike, braking and shifting technology, and safe behavior on the road. The eight participants also enthusiastically took part in coordination and balance exercises.
Alexandra Steiner has been in charge of the since the beginning of the year “skill-based activity” at the Pfaffing site. The residents can pursue an occupation in or outside the house according to their interests and preferences. The palette ranges from creative work to industrial work such as packaging and labelling.
Also the “village shop” in the house offers integrative employment for the people. Shelves are looked after, the cash register is managed, bulk purchases are made and customers are served. At the heart of the small local supplier are creative, handcrafted products “invitation”-Workshops are created. In addition, the “village shop” Hygiene items and drinks, sweets and much more (Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.).
