Early Monday morning, around 6.35 a.m., a moped and a car collided in the village of Straham (Eferding district). A 16-year-old from Alkoven fell badly and was taken to the Linz accident hospital, the police said in the evening.
The accident happened at the intersection of the B133 and Bäckerstrasse. According to the police, the moped driver wanted to turn left in the direction of the alcove, and when she turned, she might have overlooked the oncoming car. The 33-year-old driver from Scharten was no longer able to brake in time. There was a right-angled collision. The 16-year-old was thrown against the windshield.
The Eferding Red Cross treated the injured and took them to the hospital. “There was significant damage to both vehicles,” the police report said. The highway was closed for about half an hour after the accident.
