Israel simulated a regrowth of a deadly new strain of coronavirus and claims to be protected

Officials, military and civilians carried out a drill from the “National Management Center”, near Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, in which they had to face various situations: massive detection and vaccination campaigns, imposition of curfews, hospital admissions and until the closure of Ben Gurion International Airport.

Bennett described the mock “Omega Assay,” the name of a fictitious virus strain, as a precaution to ensure Israel is prepared for “any scenario.”

With a drop in the number of infections and hospitalizations in recent weeks and a positivity rate of 0.65%, Israel appears to have overcome the fourth wave of coronavirus, according to the AFP news agency.

According to official data, more than 5.7 million Israelis have already received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, about 80% of adults, and more than 4 million a third injection.

To continue increasing this number, the Ministry of Health recommended yesterday to extend vaccination to children from 5 to 11 years old.

Although the prime minister has already ruled in favor, the government must decide to go ahead with this measure.
