Although still affected by the exchange difference with Argentina, In the midst of the rise of the blue dollar, the job market on the coast shows certain signs of improvement, in line with the advances that have been seen in the national averages, according to the data by department corresponding to the April-June quarter published by the National Statistics Institute (INE), where it is shown that unemployment fell or remained in that area.

Comparing with the previous moving quarter, the strongest change occurred in Artigas, with a drop in unemployment from 14.7 to 12.1%. Unemployment in Leap also dropped half a percentage point and remained at 13.3%. In Paysandú and Rio Negro there were small insignificant variations, leaving unemployment at 11.7 and 14.8%, respectively.

All these records are above the national average of 8.6%, but the deterioration that had been recorded in recent months seems to have slowed down. The drop in unemployment in Artigas and Salto is due to increases in employment.

Informality increased and exceeded 25% in some departments

Although the panorama improves, the percentage of informality. In the case of the Department of Paysandú exceeded 25%, according to the data released today. This is a factor of worry, to the extent that in recent years in Uruguay a decrease in the informality rate had been achieved.

The INE also updated the data from the Work market according to the different municipalities of Montevideo. There is also a some improvement in averages, in line with the national trend. In any case, there is an appreciable difference between the municipalities of the coast (d, ch and e), where unemployment does not exceed 6%, regarding the df municipalities, where average unemployment is above 11%.
