He Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRREE), in conjunction with local and national authorities of Brazilwill announce next Monday, August 14, the declaration of binationality of the rivera airport.
The declaration will take place on the closed terrace of the third level of the Carrasco International Airportat 1:30 p.m. that day, together with authorities from America Airports Corporationconcessionaire of that same airport and that of Rivera, among others.
Already in June, the Minister of Defending, javier garciahad commented to the press that Uruguay sign a “memorandum of understanding” with Brazil for progress in the process of binationality of the airport. On that occasion, García highlighted the “potential” that the use of the “shared code” will have between both countries.
During a visit to the Transportation and Public Works Commission of deputies, the minister anticipated the interest of several Brazilian companies to operate in Rivera. “Brazil it will use it as a domestic airport. This is going to allow frequencies that want to do Porto Alegre – Santana do Livramento use Rivera”.
In this regard, García specified that “if there are people who want to enter Uruguay, does migrations in Uruguay And enter; if not, go ahead Brazil and it is understood as a domestic flight”.
For García, the declaration of joint binationality is possible thanks to the “political will” presented by the president Luis Lacalle Pouand his Brazilian counterpart, Lula Da Silva.
