A week ago, on the morning of August 4th, a female body was discovered on the edge of a forest path above the Pleschinger Landesstraße – the OÖN reported. Investigators are still puzzled as to who the woman is and how she died. In any case, her death should not have been long ago: “I assume that the body lay there for two to three days,” says Gottfried Mitterlehner, head of the State Criminal Police Office, in the OÖN interview.

No traces of external influence

Due to the external influences – summer temperatures and humidity – the decomposition process had progressed. The head was already severely disfigured, but according to Mitterlehner, the body was largely intact. The autopsy found no evidence of a violent crime. No bruises, scratches or other injuries. The 1.60 to 1.70 meter tall woman had no tattoos, no jewelry or documents. She wore just a striped polo shirt, star-print jeans and black Skechers sneakers.

First clues

International comparisons of DNA and fingerprints came up empty. Missing person reports in Germany and abroad were checked, and here too there have been no hits so far. The interviews with residents and people who stayed near where the body was found, as well as the search with sniffer dogs, also did not bring any insights. Therefore, the State Criminal Police Office included the public in the investigation. After the witnesses were called, information was received – albeit to a limited extent. These are now being pursued, says Mitterlehner.

Local single woman?

In addition, the investigators have hopes in the tooth picture of the corpse. A dentist found implants and bridges on the unknown person’s teeth and suspected that the treatments had been carried out in Hungary. This is now being checked. “If there are no quick clues, then you have to be prepared for a long, patient work,” says the head of the LKA.

In addition to the identity, the cause of death is unclear. “An external killing cannot be completely ruled out,” says Mitterlehner. The origin of the woman can currently only be speculated. “It can be assumed that she comes from the vicinity, maybe a single woman,” says the chief investigator, without giving any further details.

The LKA asks for information on telephone number 059133 40 3333.

Localization: The body was found in this wooded area
