With a specially made walking train at the top, the action on Saturday could not be overlooked. Christian Leckschmidt, “tinkerer” and one of the organizers of the campaign, wanted to illustrate what city politicians should “finally recognize”: An environmentally friendly rail solution is better than the motorway that is being built from the fourth bridge over the Danube to the train station.
The route hike was intended to show how public transport in Linz could be given a real boost: with the through connection of the Mühlkreisbahn via the Hafenbahn to the main station and to the south of Linz. The organizers argued that this variant could be realized within a short time and with relatively modest means.
