An 84-year-old Tyrolean drowned on Sunday afternoon while swimming in Lake Wörthersee in Carinthia. The man went swimming at around 4:50 p.m. at the bathing jetty of a hotel in Krumpendorf. Around 5:20 p.m., according to the police, a standup paddler discovered him unconscious in the water about one meter deep. Several first responders rescued the 84-year-old and began resuscitation. Despite all attempts and use of the defibrillator, the man could not be revived.

Search for woman in the Mur

An alleged swimming accident also happened in Styria: A report about a woman floating in the Mur led to a search by numerous emergency services in Graz on Sunday afternoon. Around 1 p.m., several passers-by alerted the police because they saw a woman floating in the water. The woman is said to have gone under just before the soap factory. Numerous police patrols, as well as the water rescue service and the professional fire brigade Graz were on duty. So far, the search has been unsuccessful, according to police.
