The man from Laakirchen wanted to cool off on the sunny morning in the Traun. He was at the power plant in the Kohlwehr in Ohlsdorf. There he had to climb a fence to get to the river. However, the plan backfired: the 61-year-old got stuck in the fence while climbing and injured himself.
The fire brigade moved out and freed the man from his predicament. When the emergency services arrived around 10:20 a.m., he was hanging over the fence, the police said on Monday. The firefighters pushed the batons apart with battery spreaders. After a successful rescue, the 61-year-old was taken to the Gmunden hospital by the emergency doctor.
