The Rivera airport binationality agreement is signed

He Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRREE), in conjunction with local and national authorities of Brazilwill announce this Monday the declaration of binationality of the Rivera airport.

The declaration will take place on the closed terrace of the third level of the Carrasco International Airportat 1:30 p.m. that day, together with authorities from America Airports Corporationconcessionaire of that same airport and the Riveraamong others.

The event will be attended by the Minister of Defense, Javier García, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francisco Bustillo and the Minister of Transportation, José Luis Falero, as well as their Brazilian counterparts, the Minister of Port and Airports, Márcio Luiz França and the Minister of Foreign Relations, Mauro Viera.

Already in June, the Minister of Defending, javier garciahad commented to the press that Uruguay sign a “memorandum of understanding” with Brazil for progress in the process of binationality of the airport. On that occasion, García highlighted the “potential” that the use of the “shared code” will have between both countries.

During a visit to the Transportation and Public Works Commission of Deputies, the minister anticipated the interest of several Brazilian companies to operate in Rivera. “Brazil it will use it as a domestic airport. This is going to allow frequencies that want to do Porto Alegre – Santana do Livramento use Rivera”.

For García, the declaration of joint binationality is possible thanks to the “political will” presented by the president Luis Lacalle Pouand his Brazilian counterpart, Lula Da Silva.
