Mountain rescuers from Ebensee and Altmünster as well as the police helicopter and an alpine policeman were on duty in the Höllengebirge on Monday afternoon. A Czech vacationing family got lost while descending the Brunnkogel.
The four people left at ten o’clock from the parking lot at the Taferlklause in Altmünster for a hike. Up they chose the marked path over the Hochleckenkogel to the Brunnkogel. After reaching the top, the four Czechs descended into the valley. However, not via the marked hiking trail, but via the “Franz-Scheckenberger-Steig”, which should only be walked on by those who know the area due to its sparse markings.
After a short distance, the family lost their bearings. She couldn’t go any further in the rocky terrain. The father finally called the police for help. The Czechs were flown back to the parking lot by the police helicopter “Libelle” with a rope. Luckily they were unharmed.
