The senator of National Party (PN), Jorge Gandinisuggested that the ministers of Town meeting (AC) that make up the government cabinet should resign if their party does not vote for the Accountability in general in the Parliamentbecause they signed the project”.
“The Minister of Health (Karina Rando) and the Minister of Housing (Raul Lozano) signed the project in general and have many items of their own interest, including mental health in the budget”, Gandini said at a press conference, adding that “CA cannot vote against its own ministers the law”.
After being asked if the ministers should resign, Gandini maintained that “he is not going to tell them what they have to do”, but that he believes that if his party votes against his budget, he has to step aside.
“I do not know what CA is going to do, although he reiterated, I think it is a fiction, we are not going to get to that,” the nationalist legislator defiantly shot.
CA communicated that it would not vote on the general Accountability project if more resources are not allocated to the Ministry of Defence to grant a raise to the junior staff of the Armed forces (armed forces).
Gandini: “If the Cabildo Abierto does not vote for Accountability, there will be no budget in 2024 and 2025”
According to Gandini, if CA finally did not vote, Uruguay it will run out of budget for the coming years 2024 and 2025, which would imply that there are no budget changes until a next government, as well as the mental health and addictions plan
The white legislator went further and expressed that “today our problem is CA, which has to resolve whether to vote with the government it integrates or vote with the broad frontand there the rest is cleared, if it is not cleared in Deputiesis cleared in the Senate“.
“There may be ministers who have to leave,” Gandini insisted again after being asked about a possible break in the government coalition. “The country is going to move on, then we will see which ministers remain in the cabinet,” he concluded.
