The four occupants were lucky in misfortune: the pilot (54) and his 13-year-old daughter are likely to have survived the crash landing unharmed, the pilot’s wife (50) and the co-pilot (36) escaped with minor injuries. The plane, on the other hand, was destroyed, and according to the police, the damage was in the six-figure range.

What happened? The 54-year-old from the Braunau district used the holiday to go on a training flight with his family. A 36-year-old from Salzburg was on board as co-pilot. The four started in Salzburg. After stopovers in Mühldorf and Schärding, the pilot headed for the destination, a private civilian airfield in Hofkirchen im Traunkreis.

The plane landed on the roof after it rolled over

The landing did not go according to plan: the light aircraft only landed after 300 meters on the 500-meter-long runway, the police reports. The plane then threw itself over the runway into an adjacent field, overturned and landed on the roof. The pilot’s wife and the co-pilot were taken to the hospital in Steyr after first aid.
