Two experts in their profession have already positioned themselves for the state plowing on Saturday, August 19, from 11.30 a.m. in Sierning: veteran ploughman Stefan Steiner from the Kremsmünster rural youth and Lukas Hütmeyer from the Sierning-Schiedlberg rural youth were in the Kirchdorf and Kirchdorf district elimination rounds Steyr-Land unrivaled in the bed plow category. But the 27 male and two female plowmen also proved their great skill with the tractor in this qualifying competition.
In the district of Kirchdorf, Kremsmünster’s Peter Flotzinger dominated the reversible plow class ahead of Markus Prühlinger from Nußbach and last year’s winner, Manuel Lehner from Pettenbach. Newcomer Michael Brunmair from the Landjugend Sierning-Schiedlberg won the reversible plow class in the Steyr-Land district ahead of Josef Gurtner (Pfarrkirchen-Adlwang) and Robert Klausner (Waldneukirchen).
These eight will be there when on Saturday in Sierning on the fields of the Derflinger family, vulgo “Liar” the most beautiful furrows in Upper Austria are drawn. The “Formula 1 of the furrow emperors” has been organized by rural youth since 1957. In the course of its 70th anniversary, the rural youth of Sierning-Schiedlberg is now carrying out state performance plowing for the fourth time after 1975, 1982 and 1992. Plowing is divided into the rotary and bed plow categories, with the rotary plow having a standard and a special class.
The task of the participants is to plow a certain area in a given time according to set rules. Accuracy, straightness of the furrows, evenness and the final furrow are evaluated.
At the weekend in Sierning, it’s not just about the state championship titles, but also about the tickets for next year’s national competition in Walding.
Parallel to the state ploughing, the state evaluation dancing of the best folk dance groups from Upper Austria takes place. At 7 p.m. the “after plow party”.
